The Australian Himalayan Foundation in conjunction with Michael Parker Foundation is providing drinking water and toilet facilities at three remote schools.
Thanks to a donation from MPF, two-room toilet blocks with wash facilities will be constructed at the following schools:
•Lamagadha Basic School
•Shishudaya Basic School
•Rastrabhasha Basic School
The existing toilet facilities at these schools are in poor condition, with unstable structures that render most of them unusable. The photos below are of the current toilet blocks and wash facilities.
As a result, students have no choice but to relieve themselves in open spaces without access to proper hand washing facilities.
An AHF volunteer architect, will be visiting the region next week. He played a key role in rebuilding schools in Solukhumbu after the 2015 earthquake and has been instrumental in AHF school refurbishment and reconstruction projects across Nepal ever since.
Due to the support of the MPF and the work of the AHF, these vital projects are making a real difference for these schools.
This is not the only school project that the MPF has been involved with. The Foundation has financed the building of a Girl’s and Boy’s dormitory at Kshamawati in another remote part of Nepal.
The students board at the hostel during the week as this saves them walking 2/3 hours each way every day to school.
One of the prime aims by the Foundation is to assist with education.
In Australia, we have been a major donor to the Commando Welfare Trust that assists with education of children of soldiers who have been killed or badly wounded.
